distro-info software package provides provides information about the distributions releases, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install distro-info
distro-info is installed in your system.
Make ensure the distro-info package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep distro-info *
You will get with distro-info package name, version, architecture and description in a table
